Guinness Ghana launches US$10mn production plant

Guinness Ghana Breweries Limited (GGBL: GSE) has launched a US$10 million production plant aimed at boosting the company's capacity to meet rising consumer demand for its products.

The new plant, which can produce 60,000 bottles per hour, would be used to produce some of the company's brands including Alvaro, Malta Guinness and Origin Zero. This should enable the company to meet significant rise in demand for its flagship brand Malta Guinness.

The company's revenue for the nine months ending March 31, 2018 was up by 8.3%y/y to GHS472.38 million. However, the company reported a higher net loss of GHS7.58 million for 9-month 2018 from a net loss of GHS3.20 million in 9-Month 2017 as finance charges continue to erode earnings.
