PBC reconstitutes 11-member Board

PBC has reconstituted its 11-member Board of Directors following the announcement of the first 9 members of the Board. The Ministry of Finance is expected to nominate 2 additional Directors to represent the Ghanaian government on the Board of PBC. The first 9 members include the following.

Mr. Charles Bernard Ntim, Board Chairman

Mr. Charles Bernard Ntim has considerable experience in Commodity Marketing and Research. His in-depth experience of the agricultural sector has been gained not only in Ghana but also elsewhere in Africa. From 1957 to 1977 he worked for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Gaborone, Botswana setting up an Agricultural Marketing Board.

He is currently the Managing Consultant to Mint Consultancy Services, Chairman and Promoter of Ghana Commodity Clearing House as well as Chairman of the CCH Finance House Limited.

Mr. Charles Bernard Ntim is a product of St. Augustine's College, Cape Coast and the University of Ghana where he obtained a BSc. Hons. Economics after which he obtained a Master's Degree in Economics from the Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, USA. He has also participated in a Senior Management Programme at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom and in an Executive Seminar on Financial Planning and Budgetary Control with Price Water House, Accra.

He has published several papers notable and relevant for the Cocoa Industry such as. 1. The Optimum number of Firms desirable for the Internal Marketing of Cocoa in Ghana ii. Opportunities for Financing of Cocoa Purchases through the Commodity Clearing House Scheme, a paper delivered at a Seminar on Commodity Trade Financing in May 2000 and iii. Ghana and the European Economic Community.

Important Seminars and Conferences attended include. 1. Commodity Trade Financing organized by the European Union for ACP Executives in Soft Commodities in Amsterdam in the year 1985 ii. Negotiating Contractual Agreements relating to foreign investments by the Ghana Stock Exchange, Accra in the year 1997; iii. Represented Ghana at all meetings of the International Coffee from 2006 to 2008 and iv. Chairman, Technical Committee for the total elimination of Child Labour in the Ghanaian Cocoa Industry from 2006 to 2008 etc.

Mr. Bernard Ntim is a Christian, family man and an avid Horticulturist.

Mr. Kofi Owusu Boateng, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Kofi Owusu Boateng is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PBC Limited effective 1st August, 2017. He started his career in the Cocoa Industry with the then Produce Buying Division of the Ghana Cocoa Board (now PBC Ltd.) initially as an Administrative Officer subsequent to which rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Manager, Personnel in April, 1991 before proceeding to serve his Majesty, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11 as Secretary from the year 1999.

During his stint with PBC, Mr. Kofi OwUsU Boateng worked at various locations including Sunyani, Koforidua, Sefwi-Wiawso, Swedru as well as the PBC Ltd. and Ghana Cocoa Board head offices in Accra. He had previously also been a trainer of Commission Marketing Clerks (CMCs) on the Akuafo Cheque System and has participated in the 63 rd session of the International Cocoa Organisation in London, UK in April, 2001 on the Global Economy in the new Millennium'.

Mr. Kofi OwUsU Boateng was educated at the Mount Mary Training College, Somanya, the Advanced Teacher Training College, Winneba, the University of Ghana, Legon as well as at the University of Cape Coast from where he obtained a Master of Arts Degree in and Development Studies'.

From the years 1972 to 1974 Mr. Kofi Owusu Boateng worked as a History Tutor at the Techiman Secondary School. Prior to that, he had taught at St. Peters School, Kumasi from 1967 to 1970.

Mr. Kofi Owusu Boateng has attended a number of programmes for his continuing education including an Administration Management Course at GIMPA and a Course in General Administration organized by the University of Ghana Business School.

As Secretary to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu 11, Mr. Kofi OwUsU Boateng, has been involved in a myriad of responsibilities including secretarial and administrative work as well attending to very important assignments which have enhanced his Managerial Competencies.

Mr. Kofi OwUsU Boateng has also been in charge of welfare issues at Manhyia and managed the Asantehene's schedules and appointments. He has travelled extensively with the Asantehene and has sat through important meetings and discussions with Heads of State, Ambassadors, Diplomats, Prominent Kings as well as Political, Religious and Traditional leaders.

Mr. Kofi Owusu Boateng is a Christian, has a passion for cocoa affairs, enjoys reading, discussing politics and global issues. His choice of music is highlife and the western cool music genre.

Mr. Joseph Albert Danso Jnr.

Mr. Kofi Owusu Boateng is a Christian, has a passion for cocoa affairs, enjoys reading, discussing politics and global issues. His choice of music is highlife and the western cool music genre.

He worked on State Construction Corporation and rose through the ranks from the position of Project Engineer/Manager to Regional Manager, Chief Engineer (Roads), Deputy Managing Director and finally to Managing Director, a position he occupied for thirteen (13) years.

He has also served on various Boards including the following:

Ghana Highways Authority as Board Chairman;

St. Acquinas Senior High School as Board Member;

Ghana Manganese Corporation as Board Member;

Precast Spun Concrete Product as Board Chairman and

Saltpond Ceramics Company Limited as Board Member amongst others.

He has attended various post graduate courses both at home and abroad including the Chief Executive Programme at GIMPA, the Chief Executive Programme at the Irish Management Institute, Dublin, International Courses in Hydraulic and Sanitary Engineering from the Delft Technological University in the Netherlands and Courses in Road Techniques organized by ASTEF under the French Technical Co-operation.

During his tenure as Chairman of the Ghana Highways Authority Board, a lot of trunk roads were constructed under the road development Programme launched by the Government. Notable among these include the Kasoa to Yamoransa Road, Terna to Sogakope Road, Kumasi to Techiman Road, Apedwa to Bunso Road, Nkawkaw By-Pass (Phases 1 & 2), Asankragwa to Enchi Road amongst others totaling about forty-three (43) Roads.

Mr. Joseph Albert Danso Jnr. is a well-travelled man both nationally and internationally. He enjoys walking, soccer and golf. He is currently the Managing Director of Marsdan Construction Ltd,

Mr. Samuel Acquah

Mr. Acquah started his banking career in 2003 with Barclays Plc, London as a Senior Manager in Risk Management. There, he gained an aptitude in analytical approach to Business Risk Management and Value creating initiatives. He later joined Standard Chartered Bank (SCB), Singapore in 2006 as a Team Leader in Risk Management. He was noted to have been instrumental in securing Advanced Internal Risk-Based (AIRB) status for the Bank in April 2007. He was later appointed Director for Risk Modelling in SCB, Dubai responsible for overseeing the implementation of Basel Il across Africa.

He joined Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (ETI), Lome at the end of 2009 as a Group Head, Risk Modelling with responsibility of strengthening the Risk Management function. He was a member of the Excellent Project team overseeing the entire Transformation and Optimization process and also a member of Flexcube Standardization Project across the ETI affiliates.

He is currently the Chief Risk Officer at the GCB Bank, having assumed the role in 2012. His responsibilities include providing technical advice and support to the GCB Bank Board Risk Committee, defining and implementing risk framework, developing and maintaining risk policy guidelines, managing risk profile via monitoring risk exposures, as well as promoting risk awareness.

Mr. Acquah holds a BSc. Geology from the University of Ghana and MSc. in Geoscience from Kingston University, London. He has over the years undertaken several professional development courses in Finance, Risk Management, Risk Analytics and Basel 11/111 with reputed institutions.

Mr Samuel Acquah has travelled extensively in Europe and Asia and likes swimming and football.

Prof. Mohammed Salifu

He is a Professor of Transport Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). Over the years, he has served variously as Head of Civil Engineering at KNUST (2010-2014) and Head of Traffic and Transportation Engineering Division of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) from 2004 to 2006. He has training in finance for non-finance managers, Corporate Governance, strategic team building and appraisal.

Prof. Salifu is currently Executive Secretary of the National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) and still active in professional activities both home and abroad.

Prof. Salifu is a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineers and also served as the National Vice President and Head of Education and Training 2011-2012. In the year 2012, he was a member of the International Road Federation Group of Experts on Road Safety was and also Chairman of the session on Governance, at the International Seminar on Road Financing and Investment in April 2007. He was the leader of the Accra to Kumasi dualisation project. He has also researched and executed several road and transport infrastructure projects in various capacities, including Team Leader and Transport/Logistics Engineer.

In addition to his technical expertise, Prof. Salifu has over the years served as the patron and sole sponsor of the Dagbon Thesis Assistance Fund which was instituted in the year 2000 for the most promising Final Year Project Work at KNUST which is aimed at identifying areas of potential investment and poverty alleviation in the Dabgon Traditional Area. He has also been a Patron of the KNUST Old Tamascans Association (OTA) since the year 2002.

Prof. Mohammed Salifu loves playing tennis and an ardent football fan.

Mr. Matthew Boadu Adjei

Born on 10th July, 19715 Mr. Mathew Boadu Adjei is an investment banker by profession with over thirteen years professional experience on the European and African Continents.

His working experience in the Banking Industry commenced with the Home Finance Company Limited and then the Fidelity Discount House Limited (now Fidelity Bank Limited) and Fidelity Capital Partners Limited.

After working with the above companies, he set up his own company, Oasis Capital Ghana Limited of which he is the Chief Executive Officer. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of Asterix Brokers Limited and Catamount Finance and Money Lending Limited

Mr. Adjei holds a degree in B. Sc. Administration (Banking & Finance) from the University of Ghana Business School, University of Ghana, Legon and a Master of Business Administration from the De Montfort University, Leicester in the United Kingdom.

Mr Matthew Boadu is a member of the Board of Directors, PBC Limited by representing African Tiger Holdings Limited as an institutional representative as well as Board member of some SME companies in Ghana providing them with leadership and strategic guidance

He is a married man with two adorable children.

Mr. Thomas Kwami

He was head of private equity at Databank with oversight responsibility through Board representation over the Firm's portfolio companies. He launched Databank's private equity activities into Agri-Business.

Mr. Thomas Kwami was Vice-President (Finance) for a $30 million Pan-African private equity food and agriculture Fund. He resigned from this position at the end of 2013 to focus on his own entrepreneurial pursuits. He is currently a Finance Consultant to DAFML and the founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director at ASEC Money Lending Limited. Mr. Kwami is also an active investor on the Ghana Stock Exchange.

Mr. Thomas Dzoleto Kwami holds B. Sc. Administration (Accounting) from the University of Ghana Business School, a postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Finance and Management from the University of Sorbonne, France, and an MBA in Finance and Accounting (with distinction) from the University of Hull, United Kingdom.

He is married with children and loves to sing and read.

Mr. Stephen Baba Kumasi

Mr. Stephen Baba Kumasi represents Farmers on the Board of Directors of PBC Ltd. He was born on the 14th June, 1957 in Accra and hails from Zongoyire, Zebilla in the Upper East Region of Ghana. He obtained his Middle School Leaving Certificate in the year 1975 and has since worked as a Career Farmer.

He has to date enviable awards including Regional Best Farmer in 1991 and 1995, first runner up Best Shea Butter Nut Picker in 1997 and also crowned with the outstanding National Best Farmer in the year 2000.

Mr. Stephen Baba Kumasi has interest in Local Governance and has worked in the Bawku West District Assembly at various times as an Elected Member or Government Appointee for the Zongoyire Area with additional responsibilities with the Assembly's Disaster and Agricultural sub-committee.

Presently, Mr. Stephen Baba Kumasi is an Assembly Member of the Bawku West District and the representative of the Ghana Cocoa Coffee Shea-nut Farmers Association to the PBC Board of Directors. He is a Board Member of the Action Aid International (Ghana), Regional Chairman, Seed Producers Association of Ghana and the Upper East Regional Chief Farmer. He is happily married with three children.

Mr. Emmnauel Karikari Gyamfi

Mr. Emmanuel Karikari Gyamfi represents the staff/employees of PBC Ltdc on the PBC Board of Directors. Born on the 15th day of August, 1978 in Kumasi, Mr. Emmanuel Karikari Gyamfi hails from Adankwame in the Ashanti Region

He had his Secondary School education at Prempeh College, Kumasi and continued to the Kumasi Polytechnic where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy in 2001. He is a member of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants.

He joined PBC Ltd. in 2002 first as a Principal Audit Assistant, to Audit Officer, to Senior Audit Officer to his current position as Principal Audit Officer. In his over thirteen (13) years Professional experience as an Internal Auditor at PBC Ltd., he has worked in almost every Region and District of the Company and as such has become very acquainted with the systems, operations, practices and the staff of PBC Mr. Emmanuel Karikari Gyamfi is proactive, results oriented and passionate about his work. He has practical skills in corporate governance practices and union leadership.

He has attended a number of professional development workshops including Building a Sustainable Internal Audit Quality Programme by PwC Business School, Ghana, Paralegal Training In Ghana Legal System, Criminal Litigation and Law of Contract organized by The Law Institute and Risk-Based Audit; Outline of RiskBased Audit by John Kay Associates Ltd.

He is married, loves reading, debating on general issues and listening to gospel music.
