Mrs. Margaret Boateng Sekyere

Societe Generale Ghana is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Margaret Boateng Sekyere as Chair of the Board of Directors, effective 1st October 2020. Mrs. Sekyere has served on the Board since November 2019 as an Independent Non-Executive Director. She succeeds Mr. Kofi Ampim who retired as Board Chairman on 30th September 2020. Mrs. Sekyere has over thirty years working experience in the private and public sectors in the areas of financial and human resource management, project management, and public sector reforms. From 2013 to 2018, as a Licenced Investment Advisory Representative of Ghana’s Securities and Exchange Commission, Mrs. Sekyere was the Executive Director of Finance & Administration at Belstar Capital Limited. Her key role was to ensure full compliance to all financial regulatory matters. Immediately before Belstar, she was for five years a partner in Oak Partners Limited, an asset management company that specialised in financial solutions to the real estate industry. Between 2004 and 2007, Mrs. Sekyere played a key role in major public sector reform initiatives in Ghana under the Leadership of the Senior Minister and the Minister for Public Sector Reforms. Her key accomplishment was in the preparatory arrangements for the Government of - Ghana (GOG) to obtain approval from the Board of Directors of the United States Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) for approximately USD$547million for GOG’s anti-poverty campaign. As a precursor to her public sector reform role in Ghana, Mrs. Sekyere was recruited by the Government of Sierra Leone to manage a five-year Public Sector Program funded by the World Bank from 1992 to 1997. From 1998 to 2003, Mrs. Sekyere served as the Senior Resource Management Officer of the World Bank Office in Ghana. She managed administrative services and the accounting team, together with staff training, systems back-up and replacement planning. Additionally, she played a key role in the coaching and development of newly recruited resource management staff for the World Bank Country Offices in South Africa, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Kenya. Mrs. Sekyere’s immediate post-graduate work experience from 1985 to 1992 was in Public Accounting and Mortgage Banking in the USA, and at Price Waterhouse in Ghana as a Management Consultant with special focus on Financial Management Reviews and Assessments of donor funding to public sector institutions. Mrs. Sekyere holds BBA (Accounting, 1985) and MBA (1987) degrees from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Mr Sionle YEO

Managing Director, From August 1, 2015

Mr Sionle YEO was the Chief Executive Officer of Societe Generale Burkina Faso from August 2011 until his appointment as Managing Director of Societe Generale Ghana Limited. Mr Yeo also held the position of Deputy Managing Director of Societe Generale Cote d’Ivoire from November 2008 to July 2011 and was instrumental in re-launching the Bank after the Ivorian crisis. Mr YEO holds a Post Graduate ITB degree from Institut Technique de Banque CNAM Paris. He is also a graduate of Engineering ENSIEG from Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Ingenieurs Electriciens de Grenoble group ING specialising in Automation and Industrial Computer Science with honours. He also holds an Engineer ESIM degree from Ecole Superieure d’ingenieurs de Marseille, with cross training option in Civil Engineering. Mr YEO was appointed to the Board of Directors of Societe Generale Ghana Limited in April 2015 with the Bank of Ghana granting approval to the said appointment on 30th July 2015. Mr Sionle YEO takes over from Mr Gilbert HIE who retired from the services of Societe Generale.

Bilankalama Ibrahim Traore

Chief Operating Officer, effective December 01, 2017

He holds a Bachelor in Business Management degree majoring in Management Information Systems (MIS) from the University of Quebec-Montreal Canada and a Master in Bank and Finance from Saint-Etienne University France. In the last nineteen years he has built strong expertise in Information System Management, Projects Management and Business Processing Management. He has worked in various capacities as Information System Deputy General Manager in Societe Generale Burkina Faso (SGBF) and as Information System General Manager in Societe Generale Madagascar (BFV-SG), as Chief Information Officer for Societe Generale Ghana, as Africa Sub-Saharan Programs Manager in Societe Generale Shared Service Center based in Cote d’Ivoire covering 12 countries. As the Chief Operating Officer, he manages five strategic departments; Organization and Projects, Logistics and Support, Centralized Back Offices, Purchasing and Security. He joined the Board of Directors on 1st December 2017.

Michel Miaille

Member

He holds Bachelor’s degree in Law. He joined Société Générale in 1971. In 1980-1986 he was the General Manager of Société Générale Nigeria. From 1986 to 1990 he was the General Manager for a Société Générale affiliate in Oman the Middle East. From 1990 to 1994 Mr Miaille was the General Manager for Société Générale Taiwan. From 1994 to 1999, he was the Managing Director for Société Générale Cameroon. His last position was Managing Director of Société Générale de Banques Cote d’Ivoire. He joined the Board of Directors on 26th March, 2003.

Pierre Wolmarans

Member

He holds LLB and B Com degrees (Law, Economics and Accountancy 3A) and is an Attorney by profession. He joined Société Générale in 1990. He is presently the Chief Executive for Société Générale Corporate and Investment Bank, Southern Africa and Indian Ocean Region, Johannesburg. He joined the Board of Directors on 7th February, 2005.

Teresa Ntim (Mrs)

Member

She holds a BSc and MSc. in Agricultural Economics. Her career spans over 33 years with the Bank of Ghana serving in different capacities in the Research, Rural Finance, Development Finance and Foreign Operations departments and was Head of Treasury from 1993 to 1997. She also served as Special Advisor to the Governor of the Bank of Ghana and retired in 2004. She joined thenBoard of Directors on 7th February, 2005.

Hakim Ouzzani

Non-Executive Director

He holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Economics and a Master of Arts degree in Organisation Sociology from the Ecole Nationale Superieure d’Administration et de Gestation National School of Management and Administration. He also holds a Diploma in Bank and Finances from the Institute of Financing of the Development Tunis. Mr Ouzzani has a Diploma of Higher Education from the Arab Maghred Development Financing Institute. He is presently the Senior Executive Regional Manager with Societe Generale International Banking Financial Services in charge of Cameroun, Chad, Congo Brazzaville, Equatorial Guinea, Ghana and Guinea Conakry. From 2012 to 2016, he was the CEO of Societe Generale Chad. He also held various positions within the Societe Generale Group as Deputy General Manager SG Algerie, Network and Sales Manager SG Algerie and Network Development Manager SG Algerie. From 1999 to 2002, he was the General Manager. From 2000 to 2002, he managed the Corporate Branch of the Union Bank Brokerage. In 1998, he was the New Products Development Manager at the Union Bank. He has worked as a Professor at the Ecole Superieure de Banque. He also worked with the Central Bank of Algerie as a Senior Officer Loans & Refinancing Direction and Licencing & Regulatory Direction. Mr Ouzzani was appointed to the Board of Directors of Societe Generale Ghana on 16th November 2016 with the Bank of Ghana granting approval to the said appointment on 23rd January 2017.

Alexandre Maymat

(Director Designate): He holds Statistics and Economic Administration degrees from the Polytechnics School and from the National School of Statistics and Economic Administration. He has a vast experience in the public service of France and of the European Union. Within the Société Générale Group has held the following positions. Chief Inspector, Regional Manager of the Franche- Comté area; Director and CEO of Société Générale de Banque in Cameroon; and he is now the Deputy Head of the Group’s International Retail Banking Division. He joined the Board on 15th November 2012.

Laurette Otchere

Non-Executive Director, effective July 26, 2017

She is a Barrister at Law and a Deputy Director General Operations and Benefits at Social Security and National Insurance Trust. She holds a Juris Doctor, a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and a Certified Professional in Human Resources (SHRM-CP). She is a member of the Ghana Bar, State of New Jersey Bar and the United States District Court, District of New Jersey. She is an Adjunct Professor Rutgers University School of Management and Labour Relations and the Society for Human Resource Management. She has extensive working and professional experience internationally and locally. She joined the Board of Directors in July 2017 with Bank of Ghana granting approval on 6th September 2017.

Joseph Torku

Non-Executive Director, effective July 26, 2017

He is currently the Managing Partner of Palmfields Investments Limited, an independent investment advisory firm in Ghana. He has previously been Managing Director of Gold key Properties Limited in Ghana; Chief Finance Officer for Ecobank Group in East Africa and Executive Director of Finance at Shell Oil Company in Ghana. Mr Torku also spent several years at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) as an Investment Analyst with responsibility for Banking and Hospitality investments. Mr Torku is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) Ghana. He holds a degree in Economics and Diploma in Education from the University Of Cape Coast (UCC), a Diploma in Finance from UCBerkeley, USA and MBA in Banking and Finance from CESAG in Senegal. He joined the Board of Directors in July 2017 with Bank of Ghana granting approval on 6th September, 2017.

Arnaud De Gaudemaris

Mr Arndaud De Gaudesmaris is the current Chief of Staff to the Head of Societe Generale for the AFMO Region. He holds an Engineering Degree from ISEP Paris. He is responsible for strategy preparation meetings, Internal Management meetings and the African Region strategy. He was nominated to the Board of Directors on 28th November 2018 with Bank of Ghana granting approval on 16th August 2019.

George King Tongamou Wega

Mr. Georges King Tongamou Wega is the Societe Generale Regional Director for West Africa. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Quebec (Trois Rivieres-Canada) and a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (General Management) also from the same University. His career spans over 22 years in having worked in different capacities. Primarily as a University Lecturer, for Canada Post Corporation; General Electric; Barclays Bank; United Bank for Africa; SG Cameroon; and SG Senegal. He was nominated as a member of the Board of Directors on 28th November 2018 with Bank of Ghana granting approval on 16th August 2019.
