​Brexit Effect: Ghana Cedi continue to strengthen against the Pound Sterling

Brexit continues to positively influence the performance the local currency in the inter-bank market as the cedi appreciated by 2.92% against the Pound to GHS5.1739, from GHS5.3249 in the trading previous day. This was the second consecutive trading day that the pound weakened against the cedi since the UK decided to leave the EU.


The largest daily appreciation of the Cedi came against the Chinese Reminbi by 11.65% as Brexit continue to affect global financial markets. The Pound tumbled to a 31-year low against the US Dollar today as the exit from the EU continues to affect the UK economy.
